Water resources & water economy in touristic areas

Tourism increases water demand, especially in coastal areas and islands, and can also cause water shortages during the dry season and the degradation of the water supply. We evaluate the impact of water price structures on water consumption on the residential and tourist demands in touristic areas. We examine the effects of price reforms on the average prices and their water consumption in hotels and different housing typologies. Last but not least, we study how the tourism impacts on water resources of regions with water stress.
